Mittie adds one of the nation’s top returning scorers to the roster!

Tulsa transfer Temira Poindexter joins the Wildcats for the 2024-2025 season.

With one remaining year of eligibility, Temira Poindexter is excited about the opportunity to wear the purple jersey. When deciding where she wanted to finish her collegiate career, Poindexter says Kansas State set itself apart.

“I could tell that the University genuinely cares about their athletes and that’s something that I really appreciated and was looking for. When I got on campus, I connected with the coaches really well. They are really good people and I got good vibes from the jump.”

Poindexter moved to the Little Apple in early June and says she has enjoyed spending time with her new teammates and coaches. She says one thing that has stuck out is the commitment of every player and coach.

“Coach Mittie talks about putting in the work. I can just tell this team wants to do big things and that’s what I want to be a part of.”

Before her transfer to Kansas State, Poindexter received numerous honors during her time with he Golden Hurricane. Honors include the 2024 American Athletic Conference (AAC) Player of the Year, 2024 Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-America Honorable Mention, and 2024 WBCA All-Region 3 recipient.

During the 2023-34 season, Poindexter reigned among the nation’s top scorers, setting the Tulsa record for points in a single season with 734, field goals made in a season with 265, and 3-point field goals made in a season with 85. The forward also ranked second in the school’s history for points per game at 21.0.

Among the NCAA Division I statistical rankings last season, she ranked seventh in the nation for total points and 16th in the nation in scoring average, making her a top recruit for the Wildcats.

Poindexter says she believes she can have a positive impact on this year’s squad. “I’m a highly competitive person on the court and I like bringing that competitiveness out of other people too,” says the senior.

When asked about getting to work with Wildcat NIL, she expressed her excitement for the opportunity. “I’m excited, this isn’t something I’ve had the opportunity to do before. It’s brand new to be but I think it’s amazing for collegiate athletes.”

Poindexter calls Sapulpa, Oklahoma home. This fall, Temira will be a senior studying Integrative Human Sciences.
